What to wear for engagement photos
As an Ottawa wedding photographer, spring can only mean one thing. Engagement session season is upon us. This means I get a lot of questions. Mainly about what to wear. Are you wondering what to wear for engagement photos? Here is 10 tips to help you.
Here are my engagement outfit tips
1.You can never go wrong with neutral colors. If you want something more colorful no problem. Add one pop of color and everything else has to be neutral.2. When it comes to color coordination when you have to dress as a couple, never wear the same color or same pattern. In fact, if one person wears a bright color or a plaid shirt, the other person by default will have to wear something more simple, neutral. Think of it as a beautiful painting. Someone has to be the canvas to allow for paint.3. Wear clothes you feel comfortable and confident in. Don’t try to be someone else. Just an elevated version of you. 4. Find outfit inspiration if you need too but be realistic. We are our worst critic but we have to remember that we are all beautiful and worthy. Self love is key!5. For a full one hour session, have two outfits planned. A casual and a more dressy option. If we only have time for one outfit, go for the dressier option.6. Don't be afraid to bring a second pair of shoes as well. Heels can really elevate your photos easily. You don't have to wear them for the whole session. Just for a few really nice photos. Also, dressier shoes for the gentlemen.7. Keep sunglasses and base cap in your car. I want to be able to photograph your beautiful faces and expressions.8. A simple at home manicure makes a huge difference. You best believe I will photograph your hands. You wear a stunning engagement ring on your finger. Your hands are part of the story.9. Professional hair and makeup can seriously enhance your photos and your confidence. The odds are when you booked your hairstylist and makeup artist for your wedding, you paid a package deal that includes a hair and makeup trial. You already paid for this. Don’t let it go to waste. 10. If you live in colder climates like Canada, make sure to layer your clothes very well. Especially if your having your photos done during the fall and winter.
